Joe Frank McKee

We welcome back Joe Frank McKee from Tree House Pottery in Dillsboro North Carolina!

Joe Frank shares his story:

“Originally from Abilene, TX, I received a BFA from McMurry University in May 1993 and a MFA degree from the University of North Texas in 1996. Since February of 1997 I have owned and operated my own studio and gallery. Until May of 2003 I was located in Ingram TX and then moved to open Tree House Pottery in Dillsboro North Carolina. I enjoy being a studio potter, participating in art festivals and wholesaling pottery to other galleries around the country. I create a wide range of work from functional, fumed pots to traditional Raku and Horsehair pottery. My decorative lines are more creative and artistic, yet my functional pots keep me in touch with my everyday customers. I also enjoy teaching the art of clay as a part-time instructor at Southwestern Community College. One of my greatest professional accomplishments has been co-founding and co-organizing the Western North Carolina Pottery Festival, an annual event in Dillsboro NC.”
